Soldotna, Alaska, 2003,
This 3200sf residence was sited to take advantage of its southerly sloping property. The roof over north facing walls with minimal openings slope upward to the south where living and bedrooms are located to take full advantage of passive solar gain during the colder months. The roof in the middle of the house is sloped in reverse to the rest of the house to add diversity to the otherwise modest roof line. the storefront entrance and all exterior doors and windows are commercial grade and performance. The garage walls are covered with corrugated metals, while the rest of the house is sided with cedar siding.
